ETF Trends: US Sectors & Groups – 8/3/16

Below is our daily list of the twenty best and twenty worst performing ETFs over the last five trading days. Natural gas and the biotech exposures were both up on the day and the week. The gold stocks still had a strong 5-day performance, but were down slightly today. Japan JPY Hedged was the worst performer. Oil had its best day in a while, with some of the oil stocks jumping from the worst performer list to the best performer list. The Spanish and Italian ETFs turned in poor performances whereas Poland performed strongly, as EUR Hedged had a weak performance.

ETF Trends: Hedge – 8/2/16

Below is our daily list of the twenty best and twenty worst performing ETFs over the last five trading days. It was the same story as yesterday, with the gold exposures outperforming the field and the oil stocks underperforming the field.  In a similar vein, biotech was also up yet again.  Natural gas and silver were also up. Health care providers and home construction both continued to drop as well.

ETF Trends: US Indices & Styles – 8/1/16

Below is our daily list of the twenty best and twenty worst performing ETFs over the last five trading days. Gold stocks continued to trend upward and remained atop our list of best performers. S&P Biotech and NASDAQ Biotech also performed strongly.  The Turkish ETF was also up again as were a number of Asian stocks including South Korea. Japanese yen rallied considerably after a “disappointing” BoJ decision last week.  On the flip side, oil kept falling as did related energy and commodity exposures.

ETF Trends: Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities – 7/29/16

Below is our daily list of the twenty best and twenty worst performing ETFs over the last five trading days.  It was a great day for the gold exposures, which also had the best performance among the ETFs on the week. Natural gas continued to slowly inch up, and silver rallied as well. Although oil was slightly up from yesterday, the oil stocks were still the worst performers on the week.  Health Care Providers and the USD Index Bull also performed poorly on the week (DXY index down five straight days), as did Mexico.

ETF Trends: International – 7/28/16

Below is our daily list of the twenty best and twenty worst performing ETFs over the last five trading days.  Natural gas has lurched higher over the last week while anything tied to industrial metals has performed well. Turkey has gotten a big bounce in the wake of the recent coup attempt, while Homebuilders were also surprisingly strong. Oil continues to get hit as oil-linked ETFs are near the bottom in terms of performance. Oil-linked economies like Norway have also started to slide, as have solar stocks.

ETF Trends: US Sectors & Groups – 7/27/16

Below is our daily list of the twenty best and twenty worst performing ETFs over the last five trading days. Gold and other metals have had a solid run as have biotech names. South Africa has been the single best performer at the country level while European equity exposure has benefited from FX hedging. The worst performing ETFs have been oil and energy related, with coffee soft as well. Mexican equity have gotten hit as USDMXN has moved higher.
