Despite the furious rally in oil over the past five days (with USO and DBO taking the top two spots within the universe of ETFs we track) Russian equities have been among the worst performers. Base metals, natural gas, steel, semis, and EM countries have also underperformed though Turkey and South Africa have both been big gainers. Retail, REITs, and gold miners have also been good performers.

ETF Trends: International – 4/11/17

WTI has delivered a major rally over the last two weeks, despite a modest decline today. Energy has benefited while the Philippines and Turkey have paced global equity returns over the past week. Retail has also bounced along with bond prices and REITs. Despite the oil rally, Russia has been the worst performing ETF over the past week. South Korea and Brazil have both declined along with steel, base metals, banks, and semiconductors.

ETF Trends: Hedge – 4/7/17

The Philippines tracker ETF EPHE was the best performer of the last five trading days, rallying over 5%. Energy, Telecoms, and gold miners also outperformed while some US fixed income assets started to creep into the top 20. Biotech, South Korea, and banks got hit, while small cap stocks were some of the worst performers.

ETF Trends: US Indices & Styles – 4/6/17

Gold miners, natural gas, Philippines, and oil were the biggest ETF gainers over the past week with India and MLPs also performing well. With USDJPY and the Nikkei down, DXJ has underperformed sharply, as have Banks, microcaps, small caps, and biotech.

ETF Trends: Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities – 4/5/17

South Africa and GAF (which has a large position in South Africa) have been the worst performers over the past week with Retail stocks also a leading decliner. A smattering of Asia, EM, and FX ETFs round out our list of the biggest decliners. On the winning end, oil is down sharply off today’s highs thanks to bearish EIA inventory numbers but is still up notably over the past week. MLPs, a few EM names, and MLPs are also up a decent amount.
