The third quarter earnings season unofficially comes to an end tomorrow when Wal-Mart (WMT) reports earnings before the open. So far this earnings season, more than 2,500 companies have reported their quarterly numbers, and our job here is to identify the reports that look the best.
One way that we narrow our list down is to look for earnings “triple plays.” Long-term Bespoke subscribers know how much we like triple plays, but for those that haven’t heard of the term, we came up with it back in the mid-2000s for companies that beat their earnings estimates, beat their revenue estimates and also raised guidance. We consider triple play stocks to be the cream of the crop of earnings season, and we are constantly finding new long-term buy opportunities from this basket of names each quarter.
Bespoke Premium and Institutional subscribers just received a detailed report with our list of the top triple plays from this earnings season.

Retail Sales for the Month of October were released earlier this morning, and one thing we wanted to bring attention to is the fact that for 2015, this has been a horrible report relative to expectations. The table to the right shows each of the 11 retail sales reports released so far in 2015. As shown, not a single headline report has exceeded consensus expectations, and only two have even managed to meet expectations. Going back to 2001, there hasn’t been a period where retail sales came even close to this long without a better than expected report.
Bespoke Premium and Institutional subscribers just received a detailed analysis of Friday’s retail sales report including the winners and losers in this month’s report and from a longer term perspective.

The weeks towards the end of earnings season typically see tons of stocks go ex-dividend. Below is a list of the highest yielding S&P 500 stocks going ex-dividend through next week. Big names like CVX, TGT, AFL, MSFT, CMI, MMM, WHR and JNJ are all on the list. Remember, to receive a stock’s dividend, you have to own shares at the close on the day prior to its ex-dividend date.

Every month, Bespoke Premium and Institutional subscribers receive our Bespoke Dividend Screen, which provides clients with a list of the upcoming ex-dividend dates and dividend amounts for all Russell 3,000 stocks. This month’s report was just published and emailed to subscribers.
