Below is a look at the current and historical earnings and revenue beat rates for U.S. companies on a quarterly basis going back to 1998. So far this earnings season, the earnings beat rate (% of companies beating consensus analyst estimates) stands at 64%, while the top-line revenue beat rate is much lower at 52%. It’s still very early in earnings season this quarter, but so far companies have posted numbers versus expectations that have been roughly in-line or better than the historical averages.
