Today’s S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices saw a nice uptick, which have zig-zagged somewhat on a nationwide basis over the past few years. Below we show the annualized three month percent change in the 10- and 20-city indices, which both made recent lows in July on a seasonally adjusted basis and bounced in August.
Taking a bit of a step back, below we show historical year-over-year price changes (%) for each city in the Case-Shiller indices for all periods available. We heatmap each home price index against itself only, showing the change in prices versus a year ago going back to 1987. The final entry in the heatmap is expanded to show the current YoY % change for each home price reading.
