In a B.I.G. Tips report published earlier today, we noted that more than 93% of stocks in the S&P 500 are now trading above their 50-day moving averages. Below is our trading range screen for the 30 stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The black vertical “N” line represents each stock’s 50-day moving average, while the dot represents where each stock is currently trading in relation to its 50-day. As you can see, all 30 Dow stocks are now back above their 50-day moving averages, and all but six are in overbought territory. AXP, DIS, GS, PFE, PG, and V are the six holdouts. While just six stocks in the index ARE NOT overbought, six are also in extreme overbought territory (more than two standard deviations above their 50-days). These include AAPL, BA, CVX, GE, NKE, and TRV.
